Big Data capabilities from major international companies such as Majid Al Futtaim is a vital tool in helping governments successfully transform for the future given the information it holds contributes to decision-making and helps build development policies and strategic initiatives.
At the World Government Summit hosted held in Dubai in February 2023, The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre announced the signing of an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Majid Al Futtaim, one of the region’s leading lifestyle conglomerate with brands that include shopping malls, residential developments, retail stores and entertainment hubs.
“The UAE government recognises the great importance of data as it contributes effectively to improving initiatives, strengthening development policies, supporting decision-making, and promoting a knowledge-based economy,” said Hanan Mansour Ahli, the Director of Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.
He added: “The signing of this agreement with Majid Al Futtaim, aims to support the latest technologies in the field of data science, and apply the best-certified practices globally in the management and analysis of big data. This ensures keeping up with the rapid development witnessed by the UAE in digital transformation projects and the use of technology to support the data-based economy, whether in the government or private sector".
The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre and Majid Al Futtaim will collaborate in the areas of statistical data and information and exchange experiences to ensure enhancement of the region’s competitiveness status in global reports and indicators.
